Each contestant can submit one photograph per email account.
The photograph must be in JPG format, and the file size up to 10 MB.
Photographs can be film or digital, color or black and white, as well as modestly enhanced through Photoshop or other techniques. Nevertheless, The World We Live In promotes only images that are 100% photographic in origin, especially photographs representing nature, landscapes, portraits or any real life situation. This means that manipulation is allowed but excessive manipulation or saturation may be scored down by the judge.
We encourage you to visit the site of the World Press Photo, so you can have a better idea of what counts as manipulation.
Titles and Caption- These are spaces designated to enhance a better understanding of your photo. They are to be taken seriously and to use information accurately to promote your images context. The wrong usage of these spaces could be considered for disqualification.
The organizer of this contest is Pied a Terre, Inc. (dba “The World We Live In”).
The information you give must be accurate and up-to-date. The email and name, must be real and shall be associated with, who is the only one responsible for its use.
The contestant agrees not to upload any material of a pornographic, libelous, illegal, obscene, threatening, inappropriate, aggressive, racist, or ethically offensive nature. Likewise, it is forbidden to promote or encourage any act that might be considered criminally offensive or against the law. The World We Live In will reserve the right to take down any material that does not comply with this rule, without previous notice. Anyone uploading material of this nature will be reported to the competent authorities.
Once the judge has chosen the winners (first, second and third place), they will be notified via e-mail on May 7th of 2018 and announced in our official site.
By entering this contest, the entree automatically accepts all its rules and conditions.
Winners may be contacted via telephone to request additional information related to any matter concerning the prize.
Should a winner fail to acknowledge receipt of the notification e-mail within 7 days, he/she may be disqualified and the prize awarded to the second place in that category.
Participants should be 18 (eighteen) years old on the date they upload their content to the contest The World We Live In. The contest is only open to individuals, not corporations or entities.
Should there be a change in a winner’s e-mail address, he/she must notify and make the necessary modification the contest website. Otherwise, The World We Live In will not be held responsible for the consequences of their omission.
The World We Live is inclusive and does not discriminate. This contest is open to all persons, regardless of gender, nationality, sexual orientation, faith or profession.

Winners are announced on The World We Live In site. They will also be notified via email.
The submitted work must be original. The submitted work must not be previously published or publicly disclosed. Also, it shall not have received any awards or mentions in other contests.
The contestant must own the copyright of the material entered in the contest.
The contestant must have legal authorization from individuals, names or any imagery that appear in their work.
The contestant is legally responsible for any matter stemming from their material, and agrees to cover any legal expenses in case of a lawsuit.
Submission of entries is restricted to the Internet, and all the material will be handled through The World We Live In website and the official Pied à Terre site. Contestants agree to cover the cost involved in creating their material.
Once you enter the contest, you agree to comply with all the terms and conditions (explicit as well as implicit) of same.
The organizer reserves itself the right to use the material that has been submitted by the contestants in its official website and social networks.
No complaints or comments regarding the judges’ decisions will be admitted.
The organizer does not hold himself responsible for any damage to the contestants’ equipment when uploading their material (virus, unauthorized servers, computer system malfunction, etc.).
The winners are responsible of having the required visas and permission to travel to France. In case they do not have the proper documentation the price will be given to the next in line.
Rights over the material
Although the contestant will always own the copyright to his/her work, the organizer will nonetheless keep the following rights regarding the material uploaded to the contest platform.
The organizer has the right to publish the material in all the accounts of its infrastructure: Pied á Terre platform and APP, The World We Live In site, newsletter, social networks and any form of advertising we use to promote The World We Live In and / or Pied à Terre. It is understood that such publications in no way guarantee a prize or award.
The material may be shortened for its promotional use in social media.
The organizer may: print, publish, reproduce, mount, distribute (giving credit to the author) all the material uploaded to its platform. This will not require any notification or payment to the author
The organizer will publish the names of the winners, including some of their personal information; together with musical effects and filters that the company may consider important. The winners agree not to oppose the announcement of the prizes.
In the case of a winner being disqualified after the prize has been delivered, the prize may be refuted and must be returned by the contestant.
Any controversy that might ensue will be settled according to the laws of the United States of America.
Contestants will be asked to disclose certain personal information when entering the contest. The contestant is under no obligation to provide it; however, this information is required in order to participate.

Notifying winners of the contest results.
Announcing the winning entries.
Sending contest-related questionnaires.
Sending important contest-related information.
The World We Live In will not claim the copyrights of the submitted materials; these will always remain the property of the contestants. This means that the contestant controls his/her own copyrighted material throughout the contest. The contestant, however grants The World We Live In the right to use the material for advertising purposes.

There will be an official judge, selected by Pied à Terre. Any dispute will be resolved by the organization and its rulings are final.
The invitation to participate and subscribe in “The World We Live In” contest, being an international nonprofit event, is restricted to those places or national jurisdictions where the law allowed it, and void if PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW.
